How the extension works
When you use Site Marker, the extension injects a lightweight canvas drawing script exclusively into the tab where you toggle it. The paths, text, and annotations you generate are serialized and saved strictly to your local chrome.storage.
Important: These annotations are tied to your local browser profile and the specific domain of the website you're annotating. They are never synced to any account or external server.
Third-Party Sub-Processors
There are none. Since we do not collect any personal information (PII) or usage data, we do not share anything with third-party advertising, analytics, or infrastructure providers. We don't even use error-reporting tools like Sentry, because your privacy is more important than our bug reports.
Permissions Explained
We request only the minimum browser permissions required to function:
activeTab/scripting: Required to physically draw shapes and place text elements onto the webpage you are currently viewing. The extension only runs when you explicitly click the icon.storage: Required to save your annotations across browsing sessions locally on your device.
Your Rights
Because everything is stored locally, you have total ownership and control. You can delete all your annotations at any time directly through the extension's management interface. If you uninstall the extension, Chrome automatically removes all associated data.
Contact
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how Site Marker handles your data, please reach out via the Chrome Web Store support page for the extension.
